Five newborn babies have died at a hospital in Istanbul in a week, with researchers identifying a bacteria as the probable cause of death.
'We are still investigating the source of the bacteria and factors in its transmission,' Dr. Recep Ozturk, head of the local health commission investigating the deaths, told journalists, the Anatolia news agency reported Friday.
The deaths occurred in the children's health clinic at a state hospital in the affluent Istanbul neighborhood of Goztepe."
