The European Union has been debating its absorption capacity and its borders for the past few months. The debate will continue at the European Council on June 15-16. The absorption capacity debate is on if and how the European Union will be capable of absorbing new members, especially Turkey. The border issue is about where the EU ends. Both are very theoretical, even esoteric, debates because it is almost impossible to reach an agreement along tangible lines at the end of them. Contrary to these unproductive debates, it is possible to see what the profit and loss of the latest enlargement was, to assess its absorption capacity and to have an opinion on the borders of the EU. "
