Turkey hailed a 'milestone' Monday in its drive to join the European Union after launching entry talks with the bloc, but was immediately warned that its EU-bound train may soon derail over Cyprus.
Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul jetted in to Luxembourg to open the largely symbolic talks, although only after EU foreign ministers overcame last-minute objections from Nicosia which is demanding normalized ties with Ankara."
