I had amazing telephone traffic on the day Istanbul was elected a European Capital of Culture for 2010. The good news first came from the Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Initiative Committee -- which includes, among others, Nuri Çolakoğlu and ruling Justice and Development Party Istanbul deputy Egemen Bağış -- the first body to learn about the decision of the jury in Brussels. "
