"US asks Ankara for stronger stance on Iran

In talks in Ankara yesterday, U.S. Deputy Assistant Undersecretary Gordon Gray urged Turkish officials to give stronger messages to Iran to halt sensitive nuclear activities and fully cooperate with the UN on its nuclear program.
The U.S. envoy's unannounced visit just one day after U.S. President George W. Bush said he favors talks with Tehran on the situation in Iraq raised questions about possible Turkish mediation between the U.S. and Iran, but American officials declined to comment on the issue."
