"Tiny Turks in the running

PUNTERS may well back a young Turk for a win at this year's Melbourne Cup if Racing Victoria has its way.
The club wants to lure 10 of Istanbul's finest (and tiniest) to live and work as trainee jockeys for a year.
The idea is to combat a local shortage, blamed on the expanding girth and height of Australians — jockeys ideally weigh less than 50 kilograms — and the danger perceived after two jockeys died in falls last year."
