The Greek Cypriot side refuses to discuss the 'hilarious proposals' of the Turkish side, Undersecretary to the President and acting Government Spokesman Christodoulos Pashiardis has stated, noting that 'we do not see how we can evaluate a proposal which in substance is not a proposal.'
Turkey last week announced a proposal to, in effect, swap its implementation of the Ankara protocol, which would extend the Turkey-EU customs union to all new member states including Cyprus, with the lifting of restrictions on Turkish Cypriot trade and air traffic.
Various actos in the international community, including the EU and the UK, have called for the proposals to be taken seriously."
