"Fallen Turkish tycoon jailed for 29 years

ISTANBUL: A Turkish court sentenced Bahattin Uzan, a member of the Uzan family which was behind a failed business empire, to 23 years in prison on Tuesday for embezzlement and fraud in two separate cases, the Anatolia news agency reported. The sentences followed two years of investigation after the far-flung Uzan business network, comprising hundreds of companies from banks to a telecom, was dismantled by Turkish authorities as a result of allegations of fraud."
