The Caucasus, shown within the “Eurasian Balkans” on the “Big Chessboard” of Zbigniew Brzezinski, is a region in which Turkey has vital interests. The two most important players of the Eurasian Balkans continue making moves on the chessboard. The other important players in the region, the European Union, Turkey and Iran, along with China and India, which have gradually begun to attach importance to the region, monitor the developments with an approach of “what we have been losing” and “what we can win.” Such issues as energy, politics, the military and commerce, in which the players are interested are relatively important from their own aspects."
