"Turkey not to recognize Cyprus unless lasting solution found

ANKARA, Oct. 8 (Xinhuanet) -- Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul said on Saturday that it is impossible for Turkey to recognize Greek Cypriot south unless a lasting solution to the island isfound, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported.
Gul's remarks came as Ankara kicked off its entry talks with the 25-nation European Union on Oct. 3.
Prior to the start of the accession talks, Turkey extended its customs union to the ten new EU member, including Cyprus, but Ankara insists the signature to the deal doesn't mean recognizing Cyprus."
