"TURKEY: 'BRUSSELS STREET' TO BRING EU CAPITAL TO ISTANBUL
Istanbul, 13 Oct. (AKI) - While Europeans may harbour deep reservations about Turkey's attempts to join the European Union, the Turkish authorities are bringing a slice of the EU and Belgian capital, to Istanbul, a city that stradles Europe and Asia. 'Brussels Street', a two-million euro leisure project, will see one of the old streets in the Beyoglu district, a cosmopolitan area full of restaurants and cafes, transformed into ‘Brussels Street’, by copying Brussels’s original buildings and style. Istanbul is also seeking to become a sister-city of Brussels."
