Turkish political leaders celebrated Press Day with a series of messages issued yesterday marking the 97th anniversary of the lifting of press censorship.
The Turkish press, the strong voice of the public, perform its duty in the light of universal principles based on democracy, human rights and independent and impartial journalism and continues to safeguard the republic's fundamentals, said President Ahmet Necdet Sezer in his message."
