"Wary Turks boost security

ISTANBUL: Police have stepped up security measures in Istanbul, Turkey’s biggest city and the target of deadly bombings in the past, following recent bomb attacks in London and at a Turkish resort, officials said yesterday.
“We have deployed officers with dogs trained to sniff out explosives, along with plainclothes policemen, at subway and tram stations in Istanbul for the eventuality of terrorist action,” Istanbul police chief Celalattin Cerrah told the Anatolia news agency."
