"Turkey Expects 20 Million European Tourists
Europeans will Meet in Turkey
(JTW, and AA) - According to Director of Tourism Researches and Strategy Centre Huseyin Baraner 2005 will be the �testing year for Turkish tourism�. Baraner says more than 20 million tourists will visit Turkey this year.
Baraner told the AA reporter that Turkey was declared �leader country in tourism� in Berlin Tourism Fair (ITB).
�4-5 million will come from Germany. The increase from Germany is over 22 percent. This year we expect at least 20 million tourists from Europe� added Baraner.
According to Baraner Turkey received a negotiating date in December 2004 and Turkish tourism has benefited a lot from Turkey�s EU process.
Dr. Filiz Yenikaya from ISRO also stated that Turkey became a leader country in tourism. Yenikaya said �in a short time 20 million tourists will come only to Istanbul, and the number of foreign tourists to Turkey will reach at least 50 million in 5 years.�"
