President Erdoğan’s instructions on Wednesday ordering muhtars, or village administrators, to spy on homes in their jurisdiction has drawn attention to the new muhtar information system introduced 6 months ago, particularly its ‘complaint’ and ‘report’ buttons that contact the authorities directly.
