Talking Turkey: an encounter on a balcony

We were on the balcony of the restaurant at the Istanbul Modern Art Museum, gazing out at the Bosporus and at the busy ship traffic carrying things and people over to the Asian side, or sliding up the Golden Horn on mysterious errands. The sun was sleepy-cat warm, but the wind off the Sea of Marmara was soft and billowing.
