Turkey: Reporter to EU, 102 colleagues still in jail

(ANSAmed) - BRUSSELS, March 28 - Turkey is de facto run by a 'regime' and there are currently 102 journalists still in jail in the country. Turkish investigative journalist Ahmet Sik explained this to the European parliament today, after his release from prison on 12 March. He had been invited by the European Liberal Democrat group (ALDE) to Brussels to explain the situation regarding press freedom in Turkey, a candidate country for accession to the EU.
