Over the New Year weekend, now fading fast in my memory, I took a very enjoyable short break in Istanbul. Since returning, my mind has frequently turned to what was most memorable and compared the city to what visitors might find in the UAE. Of course, Istanbul, and the rest of Turkey for that matter, is completely different from the Emirates in terms of size, history, heritage, geography and the like. It's probably unfair to compare the two, but let me try."
