New authors and intellectuals have only now begus to challenge the versions of history that were doled out by the colonial powers. Millions of pages of Muslim history are still stored in Topkapi and other vaults of knowledge. Thousands of historical secrets about science and technology remain locked up in ancient libraries and museums. all over the Arab world. Israeli universities horde up many of the Naag Hamdi texts, and the Red Sea scrolls, many of which have ended up in Dead Sea Scrolls. When Bernard Lewis was given access to the Turkish warehouses where ancient books are gathering dust, he was really impressed by the amount of knowledge that has been ignored over the centuries."
