Tucked away in one of the side streets of Kadıköy on Istanbul’s Anatolian side, is DARC - the first Japanese drug rehabilitation center to be established in Turkey. A former addict Daisuke Aoyama, the man responsible for the founding of the Turkish DARC, says there is a greater sense of taboo surrounding drug addiction in Turkey. ‘In Turkey, I feel that they are seen as really bad people and the whole matter is clouded in secrecy. There is also no government support’"
