Germany, for decades the neutered poodle of Europe when it comes to nationalism, has had it up to about here with multiculturalism, the Beeb reports. Following what polls say, chancellor Angela Merkel said this idea of having people living in two parallel but separate societies is a flop:
“Of course, the approach [to build] a multicultural [society] and to live side-by-side and to enjoy each other... has failed, utterly failed.”
She’s talking of Turkish “guest workers,” many of whom never bothered to assimilate. Enough of that, said the chancellor: “Anyone who does not immediately speak German,” she said, “is not welcome.”"
