Already two days old, this year’s cultural capital of Europe is returning to its normal chaotic life. The spell of the “Magic of Istanbul” which kept us fixed in our chairs in the new Congress Center in the Golden Horn for more than an hour has been lifted. It is time perhaps to think in a clearer mind about the official ceremony by which Istanbul took over as the first cultural Capital of Europe as a city located in a country that is not (yet) a member of the European Union."
