"Ten years of Turkey and me
Despite many legitimate fears that the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) and its leadership have a hidden Islamization agenda, the people of Turkey have returned them to power with a comfortable majority with which to govern for the next five years.
Much ink (or ether!) has been used to analyze, predict, prognosticate and even preach about the pros and cons of maintaining the AK Party in government. While it is true that in some areas such as university administration, legal appointments and the heading-up of numerous organizations the heavy hand of political patronage has been seen, there can be no doubt that the last five years have also seen a quantum-leap forward in terms of Turkey’s economic, social and structural situation -- this can only be welcome for those who live and work in this country, as well as those who engage politically, financially or geo-strategically with Turkey from without."
