"Closing thoughts on Turkey
Perhaps it is unfair because I spent more weeks in Turkey than any other country so far, but Turkey left one of the strongest impressions on me. First, I was shocked by how modern the country is. It is on par with any of Europe's major cities, especially in the larger cities like Istanbul. Istanbul was amazing and you can easily spend a week there without running out of amazing and interesting places to visit. The food is fantastic and the desserts make your mouth water. In terms of cost, it is a very attractive place to visit because it has the infrastructure and amenities of a European country, but maybe one-half to two-thirds the price. That being said, there were obviously a lot of differences between Turkey and Italy or the South American countries I've seen.
