"Critical GAP component to be completed this year
The stage one of “Down Euphrates,” the most important part of the massive Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP), is about to be completed this year. According to recent data from the State Planning Organization (DPT), the state paid out the largest amount of money for the Down Euphrates stage one, which includes the Atatürk Dam and the Şanlıurfa Tunnel, with some YTL 6.4 billion spent so far. With a remaining YTL 4 million, the project will presumably be completed within 2007."
