Turkish-American Association hosts discussion on "The Changing Dynamics in the Middle East and the Implications for Turkish-American Relations"
Ankara Public Affairs Counselor Dan Sreebny joined Dr. Sedat Laçiner, chairman of the International Strategic Research Organization (ISRO), Ambassador Faruk Loğoğlu, chairman of the Center for Eurasian Strategic Studies (ASAM) in a lively discussion, moderated by Prof. Ersin Onulduran, chairman of the Department of International Relations, Ankara University, on what the many political and economic changes in the Middle East have meant for relations between the US and Turkey. The audience, including members of the Ankara diplomatic corps, academics, students and business people, contributed to the discussion by providing several thought-provoking questions to the panelists. "The US-Turkish relationship remains just as important today, to both nations, as it was in the Cold War era," concluded Sreebny. "Turkey is important, not solely for where it is, but for what it is – a strong, stable, secure, and secular democracy with a vibrant economy.""
