Turkish boy imitating Saddam’s hanging dies

"Turkish boy imitating Saddam’s hanging dies

DIYARBAIR, Turkey: A 12-year-old Turkish boy lost his life while imitating Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein’s hanging, his family said on Tuesday. Alisan Akti hanged himself late on Monday in an unused room at his family home in the Sutluce village in the mainly Kurdish south-eastern province of Mus. Noticing that the boy was missing, his parents went in to the room to find him hanging from the ceiling. He was declared dead on arrival at hospital. The boy’s father said his son had no psychological problems and blamed his death on the broadcast of video footage of Saddam’s execution. “After watching the footage, my son kept asking questions such as “How did they execute Saddam?’, “Did he suffer?’. He lost his life while trying to copy it,” Esat Akti told reporters at his son’s funeral on Tuesday. “They should pull the footage off screens,” he added. Seven other children are reported to have died worldwide after watching the footage of the December 30 execution."
