Kurudere Village in the province of İzmir, renowned for producing 'evil-eye' glass medallions (Nazar boncug(u in Turkish) and other glassware, has decided to use its tourism potential to compete with cheap Chinese goods.
Village administrator Hasan Yıldırım said their glassware industry started in the 1950s but had suffered from Chinese competition as of late."
