France is seeking to put pressure on the European Union (EU) to take a tougher stance on human rights in accession negotiations with Turkey, according to a report in the London-based Financial Times daily newspaper.
According to the Financial Times report, the European Commission fears that French pressure regarding human rights in Turkey may damage the commission's relations with Ankara."
