"Turkish Cypriots form immovable property commission
Will ECHR find it acceptable?

Turkish Cypriots took a significant step on Wednesday in their attempt to provide a domestic remedy for Greek Cypriot property claims, with the establishment of the immovable property commission, although it is unclear whether it will be accepted by the ECHR.

According to a press release from the Turkish Cypriot press service, the immovable property commission was formed “Within the framework of the 'Article 159, Paragraph 1, Section (b) of the Law For Compensation, Exchange and Reinstatement of the Immovable Property” of the constitution.

The commission comprises 7 people appointed by Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat on March 17."
