The Reporter - Letters- Printing cartoons irresponsible

"Printing cartoons irresponsible
Reporter Editor:

I deplore the actions of the newspapers in Europe to desecrate the prophet Muhammad by printing caricatures. I lived in Turkey for six years and I know how much respect and reverence the Muslim people have for the prophet Muhammad. To desecrate his name or image is sacrilege. For Europe to do this in an already volatile situation in the Middle East is like pouring gasoline on a fire.

With Hamas at the helm in Palestine, the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, and problems in Egypt and Yemen, the newspapers doing what they did was irresponsible. This is giving al-Qaida an excuse to retaliate against those newspapers or anywhere else in Europe. There are al-Qaida cells and operatives in Europe just looking for an excuse to do something, so why do something like this? We should be showing our Muslim friends and neighbors that we accept and respect them, and all we want is to foster good relations with them."
