Turkey's newly appointed Secretary General for European Union Affairs Oguz Demiralp said on Tuesday that they will accelerate the reform process, but no concessions will be made on the Cyprus issue, or Armenian and minority claims.
Speaking at a news conference, Demiralp said that Turkey has made significant efforts so far to reach a solution on Cyprus, but they had all failed due to Greek Cypriot objections. Stating that Turkey will continue to work constructively towards a solution Demiralp added: 'The Cyprus issue will be a problem as long as EU members make it a problem.' "
