"Berlusconi: Turkey's EU membership not in question
Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi refused yesterday to open Turkey's European Union membership to question.
Berlusconi's remarks came in response to criticism questioning the membership of Muslim Turkey in the EU following protests in the Muslim world over the publication of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammed and the murder of a Roman Catholic priest in Trabzon.
'Turkey's EU membership cannot be a matter of discussion because Turkey is a front line country of NATO and has always fulfilled its commitments,' Berlusconi said. "
