"EU to open detailed Turkey, Croatia accession talks
BRUSSELS: The European Union is ready to open the first detailed accession talks with Turkey and Croatia, four months after EU leaders agreed to hold negotiations with the two states, the bloc's Austrian presidency today said.
Since the October 3 decision to begin talks, the executive European Commission has been screening the compatibility of Turkish and Croatian laws in 35 separate policy areas, or chapters, with EU legislation which all acceding countries must implement."
