"Turkey authorities foil alleged bomb plot
MERSIN, Turkey (UPI) -- Turkish police say they have caught would-be terrorists red-handed, the BBC reports.
In a statement, police said they caught five men as they were preparing bombs to attack government buildings, tourist spots and other areas of economic significance in the Mediterranean resort town of Mersin.
The police found more than three pounds of explosives and over 44 pounds of chemicals they said were to be used in the bombs.
Police said one of the men arrested is suspected of being a member of the Kurdistan Workers` Party, also known as the PKK.
The PKK has been fighting for a Kurdish homeland in southeast Turkey since 1984."
