Before they see the country's many tourist attractions, they will first experience in Istanbul what they always see in Jakarta -- reckless car-drivers, over-loaded public buses, scavengers, beggars, street vendors, hawkers offering bottled drinking water, cigarettes and snacks at the toll-road entry-gates, rubbish and pedestrians crossing wherever they like."
