The latest polemic in Turkish-EU relations is over the question of whether the Erdogan government has lost its enthusiasm for the European Union. The EU side is of this opinion, while the Turkish side, as might be expected, denies it strongly. The European Commission's representative in Ankara, Hans Jorg Kretschmer, was blunt on this score in an interview with CNN Turk earlier this week. "
