Turkey seeks Pacific support in UN Security Council bid
Turkey last week hosted, in Istanbul, an unusual international meeting of importance for Turkish foreign policy that went largely unnoticed by the news media. What made the conference interesting was the participation of guests from the Pacific islands at the other end of the world. They are 14 small island states most us have never heard of, from Kiribati to Nauru, Samoa to Palau and Tuvalu to Vanuatu. They are known as the developing island states of the Pacific.
