The leader of Turkey’s main opposition, the Republican Peoples Party says he has been threatened by the government over his stance on the recent Ergenekon trial. Dozens of people including some top former army generals were given long jail sentences in the trial over an alleged coup plot.
The leader of Turkey's main opposition Republican Peoples Party, Kemal Kalichdaroglu claims the government has threatened him over his position to the Ergenekon trial over alleged coup plot. In an interview with a foreign media outlet, Kalichdaroglu accused the Silivri court rulings that handed out long jail sentences to the country’s top generals, academics, politicians, and journalists as politicized.
