The surge of energy and anger from Taksim in Istanbul has brought suddenly to the centre stage the diversity of a country that its prime minister seems to want to mould in his own image. But it has also highlighted, more starkly than ever before, the distinctive styles of Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Abdullah Gul, Turkey’s president.
