A government report released Tuesday said Turkey was at a considerably good level regarding human rights, despite the fact that there was a lot of work needed to improve it.
“Torture and ill-treatment cases are declining constantly. How do we know that? We can understand it from the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights. We are at a considerably good level on human rights. But it doesn’t mean that we have done everything that needs to be done,” Prof. Hasan Tahsin Fendoğlu, head of the Prime Ministry Human Rights Directorate said at a press conference for the release of the directorate’s “Human Rights Report 2008.”"
