"Turkish Airlines familiarizes tourism officials with Izmir
A trip to familiarize Yemeni tourism officials with Izmir, historically called Smyrna, was taken November 24th 2008. It was organized by Turkish Airlines to introduce people to Turkey’s third most populous city, and the country’s largest port after Istanbul. Major travel agents were invited- including Universal Travel, Mareb Tours, Falcon Travel, Yemen Intercontinental & Bazaraa Travel, along with major media representatives. Trip participants were indulged with 5 star arrangements; travel seminars were given by ministers and the delegate guest - the President of Cyprus. In addition to the city and site tours, a visit to the historical city of Ephesus was included in the trip’s program, in addition to a quick visit to what is believed to be the house of Virgin Mary, and a small church with pure water streams. "
