UPDATE: IMF Says It Can Continue To Play Role In Turkey
WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- The International Monetary Fund said Wednesday it sees room to provide continued support for Turkey after the country's three-year, $10 billion loan deal with the fund expired in May.
'Directors agreed that the Fund can continue to play an effective role in supporting Turkey's efforts to entrench economic stability and tackle its remaining vulnerabilities,' the IMF's executive board said in a statement.
The IMF has provided Turkey with three loans, called stand-by arrangements, in 1999, 2002 and 2005."
