NICOSIA • A lasting solution to the Cyprus issue should be based on the principal of 'two equal states and two equal countries'. The meet on Friday would mark the beginning of comprehensive negotiations towards this end, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the self-styled Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) president Mehmet Ali Talat said here last Sunday."
