KANNUR: Gold never loses its lustre. It was to ensure the quality of gold that the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs of the Government of India introduced hallmarking and assaying of gold on April 1, 2000. As many jewellers kept away from this new process, the Kunhikkannan Jewellery Gold House, Kannur, came forward to obtain India’s first BIS certification in gold. And, C V Ravindranath, its managing partner, believes that, “Gold is not a mere decorative piece to enhance one’s beauty and status, but the greatest investment of life in all times.”"
