"Turkish President Abdullah Gul On Official Visit In The U.S.
Abdullah Gul arrived in the U.S. yesterday for his first official visit since his election as president. On Tuesday he will meet with President Bush in the White House. According to diplomatic sources, due to Gul's recent visits in energy-rich Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan and Turkey's aspiration to become an East-West and North-South energy hub and transport corridor, energy issues will be on the agenda of the meeting. Undoubtedly, the leaders will discuss a series of other issues including, Iraq, the Middle East peace process, terrorism, Iran’s disputed nuclear program and the recent developments in Pakistan and the Caucasus. Gul is accompanied by Foreign Minister Ali Babacan, Energy Minister Hilmi Guler and Minister of State Mehmet Simsek."
