"Security Council deplores failure of Greek and Turkish Cypriots to start negotiations
UNITED NATIONS: The U.N. Security Council on Friday deplored the failure of Greek and Turkish Cypriot leaders to start negotiations to reunify Cyprus and urged both sides to immediately start preparing for talks.
In a resolution extending the mandate of the U.N. peacekeeping force in Cyprus until June 15, 2008, the council said that "the status quo is unacceptable, that time is not on the side of a settlement, and that negotiations to reunify the island have been at an impasse for too long.""
