Theatre: Pera Palas - Times Online

"Pera Palas

Greta Garbo, Agatha Christie and Mata Hari were guests at Istanbul’s Pera Palas Hotel, a famous destination on the route of the Orient Express. It is the focal point of Sinan H. Unel’s intergenerational drama, where East meets West, past meets present and hierarchy preserves the division between the wealthy waited-upon and the workers. Here, in 1918, as the Ottoman Empire declines, we find Evelyn, an English feminist journalist. Nearly 80 years later, two American visitors arrive – Murat, who is half Turkish, and his gay lover Brian."
