Turkey's predicament as a water-poor country has been thrown into sharp relief by the ongoing water shortage in the west of the country; the gravity of the situation is made clear in a recent report prepared by the General Directorate of the Mineral Research and Exploration Institute (MTA), which emphasizes the importance of utilizing Turkey's water resources in an intelligent and more efficient manner. "
