"Martyred Turkish marines commemorated after 157 years
Twenty-six Turkish marines who were sent by the Ottoman Sultan Abdülmecid I to Britain, where they died, were commemorated in a ceremony held at the Portsmouth Naval Memorial.
Officials from the Turkish diplomatic mission in London, association representatives and private citizens attended the ceremony at which the British army was also present."
